David Sweere, AIA, NCARB, a native Arkansan, believes places have MEMORY and CULTURAL CONTEXT that are critical sources of influence in developing architecture. He seeks RESONANCE with PLACE through the use of local materials, low-tech construction solutions, and simple form. He strives to create harmony on any specific site with client aspirations by designing structures at any budget that feel as though they have always been there.
Resonance: related to harmony; resounding; echoing back; If something has a resonance for someone, it has a special meaning or is particularly important to them.
David has experience on a wide range of residential, cultural, master planning, educations, retail, and government projects during his time at prestigious architecture firms including Trahan Architects, Marvel Architects, and Marlon Blackwell Architects. He also served 9 years in the United States Air Force as an Electrical Journeyman, including multiple tours abroad in base maintenance and new construction units. In 2019, he received The Aydelott Travel Award, a $20K travel grant focused on self-directed architectural analysis, through which he traveled to 13 countries across Europe and Asia. In presenting this work, David has lectured at the Bengal Institute for Architecture, Landscapes, and Settlements and the Fay Jones School of Architecture + Design at the University of Arkansas.
